With short blasts from the TV show's third year titles by John Williams, cinema darlings Apollo 440 funk up the "Lost In Space Theme". They also dabble in Jean Michel Jarre territory for a scatter-fire keyboard tinkling on "Will & Penny's Theme". Their closest top spot rivals in the late 90s were the Propellerheards, whose mileage from just two or three tunes was amazing. "Bang On!" sits in very nicely sandwiched between "Busy Child" from The Crystal Method and "Everybody Needs a 303" from Fatboy Slim. Does any of it have anything to do with the picture? Not really. Certainly the trance mix of Siouxsie & the Banshees meets Portishead from Juno Reactor & the Creatures is far, far away from Bruce Broughton's original score. He gets a decent half-hour airing as the second half of the disc. But in fairness all his material works better on the Original Motion Picture Score release from Intrada Records. --Paul Tonks
